This is a 9 week series. The next session begins October 13 thru December 15th but there will be no class November 24th.Classes are held at Milk & Honey Specialized Breastfeeding and Postpartum Support Center

Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP), offers parents-to-be the opportunity to use the remarkably transformative time of pregnancy and childbirth to learn the life-skill of mindfulness for working with the stress, pain and fear that are a normal part of this profound journey into the unknown and to have these skills in place for parenting mindfully from the moment of birth. This 9-week childbirth education program has, as its core, systematic training in mindfulness meditation. The course was developed by Nancy Bardacke, CNM, MA, midwife, mindfulness teacher and Founding Director of the Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting program (from UCSD Center for Mindfulness.)The course can be helpful to first-time parents as well as 5th (or more) time parents! Medicated birth or non-medicated birth in or out of hospital. It's also appropriate for women who may have experiences a precious traumatic birth or those having a Cesarean birth or vaginal birth after cesarean. Research on the efficacy of this approach is ongoing but early studies have shown statistically significant improvements on positive and negative affect, mindfulness, depressive mood and pregnancy related anxiety. The course is taught by Judy Vastine BSN, RNC-OB, IBCLC, RLC. I've been a labor & delivery nurse for over 30 years and a Lactation Consultant for 7 years. I began my meditation practice 5 years aho and have been formally studying MBCP for 2 years. During this time, I have attended a 7 day retreat and completed a 12 week course with Nancy Bardacke CNM. However, the reality is I've been preparing for this work my whole career.Mindful Birth TucsonPh: 520.663.0142Mindful Birth Tucson on Facebookmindfulbirthtucson@gmail.com
